Sainsbury’s help City Catering provide food and gifts to Care Meals customers

Massive thank you to Darren and everyone at Sainsbury’s Local on Bedford Place who reached out to our team and offered to support us with a £100 gift voucher for instore.

We opted to use this kind donation to provide our care meals customers with the gift of some extra food or household items. The items ranged from fresh fruit, sweet treats, onion bhajis to air fresheners!

Our Care Meals team and volunteers were then delighted to deliver some of the goodies to our happy customers. Donna (pictured above) - one of our drivers - purchased some items with Sainsbury’s Bedford Place Manager Darren.

She was also joined by Simon Matthews and one of our volunteers Amerik (pictured below) who normally works with our friends at SCiA (Social Care in Action) and has been supporting our care meals service whilst some of SCiA's activities have been reduced due to the pandemic.

Simon Matthews, from our Care Meals team commented that "Our customers were very pleased and grateful for our efforts".

Everyone at City Catering is delighted to be able to go above and beyond and to give our customers a little extra with the daily hot meal delivery, especially during this time when many aren't able to get out and about. For many, our drivers are a regular friendly face every day where otherwise they might not see many other people.

You can support our care meals service and help us continue to provide meals to our Southampton community by donating here.
