Christmas Care meals for our Southampton residents

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas for our Care meal team! We deliver and serve meals for our clients all year round, Monday-Friday, with many also requesting frozen meals for the weekend, so the build up to bank holidays always takes some careful planning to ensure that everyone who needs it can access their meals.

For Christmas Eve, with thanks to the kind donations we've received this year, we've been able to fund something a little more special! Our care meals team will be serving up a delicious Christmas roast for 140 of our clients across Southampton. Honey roast Turkey, Mushroom, Leek and Cheddar Bake with a delicious Christmas pudding

We know that many of our clients this year have remained shielded or had limited social contact as a result of Covid and their specific vulnerabilities. The daily visits - often social distanced on door steps or limited Covid-secure inside depending on need - have been a welcome chance for a chat and a bit of interaction for many. Being able to serve up something special on Christmas Eve on a year were many may not be able to enjoy the festivities with family as they usually would will certainly be a gift for all involved!

Over at Erksine Court, our restaurant within a care facility, will enjoy our Christmas meal cooked especially by our Deputy Hospitality Manager, Simon Matthews who has volunteered his time, skill and passion for good food. Residents have had closures and meals served in their rooms during the lockdown periods, so will welcome the opportunity to enjoy a sit down meal over the Christmas period in near-but-socially-distant proximity to their fellow residents and friends.

It's been a privilege to be able to support elderly and vulnerable adults this year, when they've needed it the most. If you'd like to donate to our care meals fund to help us continue our work, you can do so here.
