City Catering serves School Christmas Lunches

One of the most anticipated dates in our school teams' calendar every year, is the school Christmas lunch! A suitably festive occasion, and an opportunity for schools to (usually) gather together, enjoy a hot meal, maybe dress up and soak up some Christmas cheer at the end of term. Often, the whole school is served, and its just wonderful to see so many children join together and enjoy a meal. We are delighted that almost all of our schools have been able to offer their pupils the 2020-equivalent version of a Christmas lunch.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions in place, some schools have opted to stagger their Christmas lunches over several days with different year groups taking part on different days - extending the festive fun! Whilst others are choosing to continue to serve in the classrooms as they have been all term. Whatever their approach to ensure that people remain safe and festive excitement heard - our teams will enjoy serving up a Christmas meal, this year more than ever!

Sarah Doling, Food Development Manager shared that ""Christmas Lunch this year, for most of our schools, is a traditional hot, plated Christmas meal - with Turkey or Quorn. For those schools unable to serve plated meals due to their Covid-19 restrictions, we have also offered an alternative of Christmas festive hot picnic lunch. We are thrilled to see so many schools offer their Christmas lunch, despite all the challenges this year!"

Its been a challenging year, full of change, and whilst we remain eager to see dinning halls full and be able to watch pupils enjoy their schools meals together again, we are pleased to say that thanks to the Menu Development team, our school cooks and their partners at the school - Christmas lunch hasn't been cancelled for City Catering!
