Our New Summer School Menu for 2022!

The Summer Menu commences on the 25th April in most schools and runs until October half term. We have included even more ‘cooked from scratch’ dishes and added some NEW DISHES into the mix. Explore your school’s specific menu on our school menu page.

Our New Dishes

We have 15 delicious new dishes on the menu (each school menu can vary so you may not have all 15 on your schools 3-weekly menu). We have flavours from all around the world for children to taste, from our Jerk Spiced Sweet Potato Curry, to our Vegetable Dhansak. We have added photos of these two dishes below for you, both super-nutritious and packed with vegetables.

Check out all the dishes below, we have also added a key for you to show which dishes are ‘Vegan’, ‘Vegetarian’, ‘Cooked from Scratch’, or ‘Recipe Available Online’. All the new dishes are cooked from scratch in our school kitchens.

We have a selection of new fruity desserts on the menu, such as our Fruit Brownie (banana, mango, orange or pear), Orange Cake, Banana Bread and Pineapple Sponge.

We’re looking forward to getting some invaluable feedback from pupils and school staff on our new dishes.

Meat-free Wednesdays

We have continued to offer our meat-free Wednesday as part of our standard menu. City Catering made a pledge some time along, to reduce its environmental impact and this is one of the ways we intend to make a change. As well as the environmental reasoning, there are health benefits too and it gives children the opportunity to try new flavours.

This is our Meat-free leaflet which explains our 3 main reasons for reducing our meat consumption.

Vegetable Portions

We have packed as many veggies into every dish! This means that on average half of the recommended 5-a-day, is on offer every school day.

Our in-house tomato sauce is freshly made, with no added sugar and packed with 8 different vegetables. The sauce is used on our pizza bases and in other dishes such as Creamy Tomato Pasta, Veggie Fajita Pocket, Rainbow Pitta and our Saucy Turkey Meatballs.

Our Menu Development Team make sure they get as many veggies into children, during lunch service as possible. We want to give them all the nourishment they need to learn and grow.

Our School Menu Accreditations

We are healthy approved by Food for Life and the School Food Plan. This means that our menus abide by strict guidelines set out by The Soil Association and The Government. Our Hyperactive Children’s Support Group Award certifies our recipes as not featuring any nasty additives.

Find out more about our accreditations.

School Meal Recipes Available

Our Cooking at Home page allows you to find your child’s favourite school meal and recreate it at home for them. We have a range of recipes and ‘cook along videos’ too on our website. You can head over to our YouTube page and see our latest recipe videos.

Lunchero - School Meals App

View your child’s school menu on our school meals app, Lunchero. It’s free to download and can help you plan for the week ahead. We also have a recipe section on the app so you can explore our ‘most loved’ school meal dishes.

Please note: We are currently experiencing issues with the ‘select school’ feature on Lunchero and Lunchero+, for those using the latest version of iOS (15.4.1). We're working with our app support team to resolve this issue ASAP.

Enjoy exploring the tastes of the new Summer Menu!
